Frequently Asked Questions

Ensure your degree or certificate information is correct and make sure you include all degrees or certificates that you believe you should receive.

The name you list on the form will be used to print your diploma. Make sure you list your name exactly as you wish for it to appear.

Diplomas and certificates are mailed to all eligible graduates after the end of the semester. It may take up to 4-6 weeks for the diplomas to arrive. List an appropriate mailing address for that timeframe. If your address changes from what you put on the form, please email Graduation@tjc.edu to have your information updated.

Students are responsible for submitting official transcripts from any other institutions they have attended. Your eligibility for you degree or certificate cannot be confirmed without those documents.

You will be asked if you wish to participate in the commencement ceremony.  You will only be able to walk the stage at graduation if you check “yes” to this question.

Confirm Your Graduation

Students who enroll in courses with another college/university during the semester they expect to graduate are required to submit an official transcript so that their eligibility can be reviewed accurately. This transcript must have courses listed as “In-Progress” from the institution in which you are enrolled.

If you are unable to obtain an official transcript, alterative verification may be accepted; however, these courses will not appear in Apache Access and may not help determine how transfer credits will be applied to your graduation requirements. Alternative degree requirement verification must be from the institution in which you are enrolled and must include the following:

  • Your name
  • The course name(s) and number(s)
  • The institution’s name
  • Attendance term OR course start and end dates

Note: If you are planning to participate in the commencement ceremony, your degree requirement verification document(s) must be submitted by the posted deadline for walking at graduation. If documents are not received by this date you may still receive your degree, but you will not be able to participate in the ceremony.

Students are also responsible for submitting official transcript(s) to the Office of the Registrar at the end of the semester before their degree can be awarded. Failure to submit official transcripts by the deadline stated by the Office of the Registrar will prevent the degree from being rewarded for the intended graduation term. Students whose degree is not awarded for the intended graduation term will be required to complete the confirmation process for the next term. All final external official transcripts must be submitted by the thirty (30) calendar day deadline from the end of term date.

Review your grades in Apache Access at the end of the semester to make sure all courses have been completed and a final grade has been recorded. Any courses with an incomplete grade will delay your degree being awarded.

The Office of the Registrar must receive the correct paperwork in order to record the proper grade on your academic record. If an incomplete grade is still listed on your record, contact the instructor of the course to determine when the proper paperwork will be submitted to the Office of the Registrar.

Participating in the commencement ceremony does not guarantee degree completion and actual diplomas are not awarded at the commencement ceremony. The Office of the Registrar must verify successful completion of all degree requirements once official grades are posted. Diplomas are mailed to all eligible graduates 2-3 weeks after semester grades are finalized.

The following actions can prevent a student from graduating and receiving their diploma:

  • Dropping a required course
  • Failing a course
  • Not meeting GPA requirements
  • Failure to submit transcript from all other colleges/universities attended
